Effect of Head Size to B1, SNR and SAR

چکیده
Introduction: Simulations of RF coils loaded with human head and body models are seen in the literature [1-5]. Little research, however, focuses on the loading effects of human head or body dimension on the B1 field, signal to noise (SNR) and specific absorption ratio (SAR). Human head sizes can vary greatly [6] and this may seriously affect these NMR parameters, especially at higher fields. This study investigates how head size variation affects B1, ISNR and SAR.

Parallel Excitation: Making SENSE of High-Field Body MRI
MR imaging at high B0 field strength presents significant diagnostic opportunities derived from enhancements in SNR, spectral resolution and image contrast. However there are technical challenges that substantially hamper the practice of high-field MRI, including a major one that is related to the exploitation of the radio frequency EM field (B1 field and concomitant E field). As field strength...

Introduction: The advantage of high field MRI is high SNR which can increase image resolution or decrease acquisition time. However, there are some challenges, such as the RF wavelength effect and the power deposition in tissues. A comparison of three different volume coils loaded with the same spherical homogeneous phantom has been reported [1]. In order to mimic the B1 field distribution and ...

Introduction Although high-field MRI on the human head offers a number of advantages including increased signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and higher contrast for certain applications, there are also significant difficulties. Chief among these are the non-uniform tipping (variation of the flip angle in the sample) produced by conventional RF pulses due to the inhomogeneous RF (B1) field intrinsic in...
متن کاملFour Channel Transceiver Array for Functional Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in the Human Visual Cortex at 9.4 T
Introduction: Functional magnetic resonance spectroscopy (fMRS) at ultra-high field (UHF) strength (≥7T) is a method to investigate the metabolism of the human brain during task induced stimulation [1] or pharmalogical challenge [2]. A region of special interest is the visual cortex which undergoes metabolic changes during visual stimulation [1]. The UHF thereby allows for increased spectral an...
